What do you look for in a man?

Are you in a relationship right now? Or are you desiring to be in a relationship in the future?
Then, let me ask you, what do you look for in a man?

Hopefully, you don’t simply look for the “pogi”, or the “sikat”, the “talented” or the “matalino”. I hope you’ll dig deeper beyond the superficial.

Because being in a relationship is a serious matter. You don’t enter into it simply because you are bored or just for fun. You don’t dive into a relationship for the sake of having one. We enter into a relationship because we want to grow with the other person. We want to know them better. We want to show them that we love them because we first experienced it.

So, what do you specifically look for in a man?

As for me, I have a few things that I would like to share with you that hopefully will help you in your journey of finding the right person.

First, I hope you’ll look for a man with a vision. When a person has a vision of the future he knows where you are going. He can see where you are heading. It means he has a sense of direction. When the right time comes, he will also be prompt enough to ask you for marriage because he desires to build a family with you. A man with vision knows that it is his task to guide and lead you.

Second, I hope you’ll look for a man with the courage to protect you at all costs. It means he will protect your dignity. He will not speak ill against you or to anybody. He will not ask you to give up anything just for you to show your love. He will instead strive to protect you by all means.

Lastly, I hope you’ll look for a man with faith. This doesn’t mean that he must be perfect but it means that he knows he needs God’s guidance and grace. He recognizes the fact that he is nothing without God. A man of faith knows by heart the things that he must prioritize and give value to. His love for God radiates through his life.

These are only a few of the characteristics that hopefully you’ll find in the man that you are looking for. I am sharing these because if only we learn to look at men in their true identity, we will discover that they were created by the Lord with distinct roles to take in society, in our families, and our relationships.

We need to raise real men that utilize their sense of vision, men who know how to protect others at all costs, and real men grounded in faith. We are called to exercise their anointing by believing that they are capable of doing and exercising their gifts. They need women that allow them to be the men they were meant to be.

Today, let me honor my husband, Luigi, for rising above the many challenges of the men of this modern day. Thank you for taking the courage to lead our little family and for guiding us through every step of the way. For protecting me at all costs even way before I said “yes” to you in courtship and marriage, and for protecting our family in your little way. And thank you, for being our example in matters of faith. Your steadfast trust in the Lord at all times makes me thank Him even more for giving me the best companion in this journey.

Happy Father’s Day to Iggy’s papa! And Happy Father’s Day to the great men of my life! Thank you for sharing your giftedness! I am inspired to raise Ignatius through your example.

And to everyone, let us celebrate the great men who raised and loved us!

Happy Father’s Day!
