Hello 2025!
Happy New Year, everyone!
They say, January is about looking back and looking forward. It is about being grateful for the past 12 months that went by and looking forward with high hopes for the coming year. As I enter into this brand new year, I can’t help but also reflect upon my dreams, desires and hopes for the year. But let me focus on the word “hope”.
What is hope?
According to the dictionary, hope is “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen, a feeling of trust.” Hope in Catholic perspective is considered as a theological virtue, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “Christian hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit” (CCC 1817)
For me, in a more chewable description, hope is putting my trust in the Lord no matter the circumstance as I journey in this life. For the next 12 months, I am certain that I’ll experience difficulties or challenges, I have to face doubts and fears, I have to conquer my own giants but because of hope I continue to look forward with eyes excited for God’s revelation and surprises.
What are my hopes for 2025?
Ever since, I hope to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. I hope to live this life fully awake, fully alive. I hope to be able to give value to other people through the things that I do. I hope to spend my time in things that matter which means I have to say “no”, in order to give emphasis on my yes. I hope to be able to build relationships, good and lasting relationships. And nurture those relationships that I already have. I hope to let go of anything that hinders me from fulfilling my purpose, identity and calling. I hope to go back to my core values and live them out courageously. I hope to be mindful with my actions, all the more, with my words. I hope to speak kindness, blessing and not the other way around. I hope to live simply and with intention especially in matters of material goods and luxuries. I hope to experience life more and be able to share this experience with the people that I love. I hope to become the woman, wife and mother that God envisioned and created me to be.
With my hopes for the year, I welcome this new adventure with high expectations, vigor and with a winners mindset! My hope in the Lord is my anchor for 2025 and I am excited to witness His miracles unfold!
