When God says, “no” or “not yet”.

Have you ever experienced a rejection in your life?

Like you, I also have my fair share of rejections in my journey.

Recently, we received a “no” for a certain thing that we’ve been hoping and praying for as a family. It hurts. It felt like our life crumbled before us. Though I trained myself to shift my perspective when it comes to these things, instead of thinking that they were rejections I always consider them as redirections. God’s redirections.

But even though I know God has better plans and ways, human as I am, I can’t help but feel the pain and the frustration when things don’t go as planned. After years of learning to let God take control, I still have my share of moments where I questioned God on whether I understood what He wanted of me or if I was listening enough to His directions and asked Him if I could gain even a little control over certain things.

You see, I am still the same stubborn little child who insists that things go her way. But in these difficult times, I have seen all the more God’s constant patience and love for a person like me.

I realized that it is in our unguarded moments that we intimately experience God. It is during our life’s rejections, uncertainties, and difficulties that we come face to face with Him, not because we want to ask something but simply because He is ready to comfort us.

That “no” changed our life’s path but on the other hand, it also opened our eyes to the fact that we are walking on the right path, in God’s holy will. That “no” refreshed our vision and gave us a clear sight of what God wants of us at the moment. And this assures us that even if the future is scary, we are where we should be.

When God says “no”, I realize it means He wants us to see bigger things than we dreamed of. It also means He is protecting us from the road ahead. Or, He wants us to learn the lessons needed for His will to happen. Most of the time, God’s “no” is a redirection for the many yeses that we are to experience.

It could also mean, “not yet”. It means, a time of waiting for His ways to unravel. A season of waiting for us to grow so that we’ll able to receive what He promised. A time for us to wait and see, for our faith to mature and our relationship with Him to flourish before He’ll show us to another adventure.

I realized that the word “no” gives more weight and value to the word “yes”. When we receive a “no” in our journey, we remember why we wanted a yes. It reflects our heart’s true desires and the things that matter to us. That’s why we experience hurt or frustration because it makes us see what we truly want but when emotions subside, we’ll see why we have to go through these things.

I guess this is the paradox of life. We learn to value the “yes” because of the “no”. And, sometimes one “no” can lead us to the many “yeses” in our journey.

Indeed, God’s “no” is a yes to something else, or somewhere else, or anything else. The possibility is endless. ❤

If you too are in this season of your life, you are not alone! Always remember, whether a no or a yes one thing is certain, our God is constant, yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

May the “no’s” of this life lead us to beautiful adventures! God is with us!
