LIFELONG PARTNER

Are you in a relationship?

Are you considering the idea of marriage?

If you are heading in the path of having a wife/husband and building a family then it’s time to think about the vocation of marriage. More than the glamorous idea of what it means to marry someone let’s take a look at it in a deeper sense.

First, please know that marriage is a vocation. It is a calling. Each of us we are called to a specific vocation in life, like anything else marriage is a call that some of us ought to answer. Since it is a vocation, it is a person’s path to holiness, an avenue for him/her to get to know the Lord more, to grow as a person, and to glorify Him.

This vocation also challenges every couple to express and represent God’s truth and love to the world through their marriage. It means marriage is a sacred call just like priesthood, or single blessedness. Since it is sacred one should prepare, pray, and discern well for it.

Second, marriage is a commitment. It means you’ll stick to it no matter what. In other words, no return, no exchange. Since it is a commitment, you have to accept the fact that even when life is difficult, or messy, or even if our partner becomes unlovable, we must remain to be true to our commitment.

Why am I sharing these two?

Because as you think of marriage, please discern well with whom you’ll share this marriage. When we can grasp deeply how important and sacred this vocation is we’ll surely give importance to the process of finding the right person for us.

It is not simply a walk in the park. Not even a love at first sight. It is not just about having that “chemistry”. Love is far different from all of these.

I hope as you think about marriage you’ll also pray and discern well for your lifelong partner. ❤

God bless your journey!
